Kim is the Amicus School’s Senior Teacher and she, with support manages the staff on the Education Team. She is experienced and teaches in all areas of the curriculum, including core, non-core, P.S.H.E and citizenship and has a passion for teaching using the Arts. Kim previously specialised in working alongside Foundation Programmes at a local college and is experienced in working with diverse levels and needs in the classroom. Over the years she has developed various teaching methods to support students with learning disabilities and behavioural difficulties, using a wide range of strategies that promote confidence building and academic and emotional progression. At the beginning of her career, Kim worked as Teaching Assistant and found her passion in wanting to educate vulnerable/disadvantaged children and young people with special educational needs. This led to her then going on to do her teacher training.

Kim came to Amicus wanting to expand her career and be part of an organisation that works therapeutically with emotionally damaged children. Kim is now the Senior Teacher in the school, taking a lead in the operation and daily running of the school. Kim attends regular meetings with an External Educational Consultant, providing guidance in her work and enabling her to enhance her skills in teaching children with severe emotional and behavioural difficulties.
